I must say that I was not impressed with this book, and only completed it because it had been selected by one of my book clubs. I found it hard to believe that her prejudiced parents would have allowed her to associate so freely with the Indian children. Also I felt that her husband, a man of his time, 1906, would NEVER have forgiven her for her indiscretions when he finally learned of her Secret. I also was not convinced that this wimpy, whiny woman in 1906 would have had the courage to inform her husband of the legal difficulties of a childhood friend. The whole book just rang untrue to me, simply pedestrian writing.
