Summary

Having parents involved in white-collar crime skip town AND skip out on their children made life for teenager Carlotta Wren difficult. Dumped by her high-society fiancé to avoid bringing scandal to his family, Carly struggles to cope with the double loss. Forgoing college to raise her nine year old brother Wesley, Carly takes a retail job at Neiman Marcus. Ten years later, still single and looking after her brother, Carly barely makes ends meet. A hefty portion of her commission comes from a customer who happens to be her former fiancé's wife, who ends up dead after having a confrontation with Carly, who then becomes the prime suspect in her murder. In the meantime, Wesley's gambling brings around his loan sharks and his computer hacking puts him in trouble with the law. These events bring several new problems to Carly's doorstep; a handsome detective, Wesley's sexy new boss, and newly widowed ex-fiancé Peter. She's far from ready for the sudden surge of attention.
