in the tradition established by NECTAR IN A SIEVE, by MANCHILD IN THE PROMISED LAND, and by THE GOOD EARTH, this is one fantastic work of fiction, with the added bonus of being set in Manhattan. The author handles the stream of consciousness of two characters, of opposite genders. I needn't say that she survived a massacre at a refugee camp in Lebanon. What a way to recover!
