Imagine a place of absolute wonder where elegance meets absurdity, and mysterious people accomplish impossible feats. Le Circuit des Rêves arrives, its black and white tents popping out of nowhere and sitting silently until the sun falls below the horizon, the circus is open. It’s a wonderful place of caramel popcorn and fortune-tellers, but behind the striped tents, a mystifying game is at play. This enchanting romance is mysterious and magnificent. Erin Morganstern writes of a spectacular travelling circus, where pure magic is around every turn. Though unique this fictitious novel is filled with childlike wonder wrapped in indescribable tension. The Night Circus has become one of my favourite books, so creative and descriptive it makes you feel as though you are really part of Le Curiut des Rêves. @EcoGeek23 of the Teen Review Board at the Hamilton Public Library An extraordinary circus that only appears at night. A circus so incredible and fascinating that some call it magical, not realizing that they are closer to the truth than they thought. For behind the scenes two young magicians are locked in an epic battle, a struggle in which only one can be left standing- although they do now know this yet. Amidst the turmoil, the two find themselves falling headfirst in love, setting off a chain reaction with consequences for all. I loved the descriptions of the circus found throughout the story, which showed a wide scope of imagination. This was a beautiful novel to read, highly recommended for day dreamers and fans of fantasy. Luckily, the plot had enough mystery and intrigue to keep me reading it for more than the just the circus. However, one aspect that did suffer, or at least seem rushed, was the romance between Marco and Celia. With many elements to balance, it’s understandable that character development suffers sometimes. However, I had a hard time rooting for the two magicians to triumph and end up together, which made reading a bit of a challenge. Despite the troubles with relationship growth, this was still a highly enjoyable read. 4.5/5 Stars. @viedelabibliothèque of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board
