Love, racism and human trafficking of young girls are themes in this novel. A missing mother and then her murdered husband leaves the 3 year old Charlotte without parents. The continuing character development is an integral part of this novel as we experience the progression of Kincaid and Gemma's relationship. As well the balance between their home life and their work life adds the value to the novel. And I also enjoyed the evolving development of Melody Talbot and Doug Cullen. A very good engaging story and recommended.
