Originally from Glendale, Arizona - Martin David Robinson (a multiple music-award winner) was born September 26, 1925 into an abusive family situation. Martin was known professionally as Marty Robbins. He was a highly successful singer, as well as a talented songwriter, actor, multi-instrumentalist, and semi-pro racing-car driver. One of the most popular and successful country and western singers of all time for most of his near 4-decade career - Marty Robbins often topped the country music charts, and several of his songs also had crossover success as pop hits. This "Gunfighter Ballads" CD contains 15 tracks in all which were recorded by Robbins (with accompanying musicians) in 1959. Two of my favourites are - El Paso, and They're Hanging Me Tonight.
