This book was perhaps my favorite of the Royal Diaries series growing up (though many of the others were also quite good and I definitely recommend them as well). This rendition of Elizabeth I's childhood is absolutely riveting and highly entertaining. Follow the 11-to-12-year-old daughter of Henry VIII, the daughter of Anne Boleyn, as she navigates the treacherous waters of her father's court in the final years of his life. It is in her handling of many of these situations that we see the beginnings of the canny political operator that she will show herself to be as an adult. We see some of the friendships and relationships that will stay with her through much of her life as well. An amazing read for a tween or teen!
