To Anne Serling, the figure the public saw hosting The Twilight Zone each week, intoning cautionary observations about fate, chance, and humanity, was not the father she knew. Her fun-loving dad would play on the floor with the dogs and was apt to put a lampshade on his head and break out in song. He was her best friend, her playmate, and her confidant. After his unexpected death at 50, Anne, just 20, was left stunned. Gradually, she found solace by talking to his friends, poring over old correspondence, and recording her childhood memories. Now she shares personal photos, eloquent, revealing letters, and beautifully rendered scenes of his childhood, war years, and their family's time together--and the myriad ways he filled their time with laughter, strength, and endearing silliness. Though begun in loss, Anne's story is a celebration of her extraordinary relationship with her father and the qualities she came to prize through him--empathy, kindness, and an uncompromising sense of social justice.--From publisher description.

(*Rod Serling quote*) - "If you want to prove that god is not dead first prove that man is alive."

Born (1924) in Syracuse, New York - (screenwriter/narrator/television producer) Rod Serling is a modern-day pop culture icon (due to his connection with the TV series "The Twilight Zone").

This biography of Serling, titled "As I Knew Him", was written by Serling's daughter, Ann in 2013, nearly 40 years after her father's death in 1975 (at the age of 50).

This book gives the reader an insider's look at the private life of Rod Serling as only his daughter could tell it.

(*Twilight Zone introduction by host, Rod Serling*) - "You're travelling through another dimension... A dimension not only of sight and sound, but of mind... A journey into a wondrous land where its boundaries are that of the imagination... Your next stop - The Twilight Zone!"

With love, care, and insight - "As I Knew Him" (written by Anne Serling, Rod Serling's daughter) gives the inquisitive reader an insider's look behind-the-scenes at the life and career of one of the most profoundly enigmatic men of all time.

A multiple-award-winner - Rod Serling's close association with TV's "The Twilight Zone" (1959-1964) has made him a pop-culture icon who (to this very day) is still recognizable by millions.
