Really sweet little story. The lead cast worked well together. It was an interesting take on fans extrapolating a little information into the closest story possibly. I liked the comparison between a plumber related to water vs an artist related to their finished work.

I kind of liked this low key comedy that had some charm showing some real consequences of life. This film is based upon the 2009 novel by Nick Hornby.
There was some enjoyable moments and chemistry between the actors Chris O'Dowd (Thor: The Dark World: 2013; Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children: 2016; Molly's Game: 2017), Rose Burne (Bridesmaids: 2011; Spy: 2015; Peter Rabbit: 2018), Ethan Hawke and Azhy Robertson (After the Wedding: 2019).

Weary of the celebrated debauched, who give themselves permission to behave like savages even to their own offspring, and of the charmless, enervated losers who stay in bad relationships with partners who don't want the best for them ever. About 20 min. was 20 min. too many.

Again, it feels like a globalist conspiracy to spam us with the morally bankrupt as if to prove Western democracy is not worth saving.

So much indoctrination, too little time. Don't waste yours on this garbage.

This film begins slowly letting the characters and the set-up build, so you have to be patient. I stuck with it and it paid off with some excellent acting, which carried the story through to the end. Nothing to shout about but worth the watch.

I thought the novel was better, but I really liked this adaptation. I thought it was well cast, funny and touching.

Not a fan of the rom-com genre, but this gem was very clever and an accurate commentary on modern relationships. Ethan Hawke in yet another fine film...with some wonderful performances from many others. Uncommonly charming.

Charming rom-com. Entertaining. Great casting -- Everyone is believable and seems natural. Chris O'Dowd is always funny, regardless of the role. We always enjoy Ethan Hawke (an underrated actor). Good directing -- even the child actor was good, convincing, and natural-feeling.

Charming, funny, the leads are all good but Chris O'Dowd in particular is a treat to watch (as he always is).

You sure this doesn't have something to do with your idol coming along and fancying me a little bit?
-No, God! That's hurtful. Maybe a bit, maybe a bit. Okay, I don't know. He opened my eyes. But now my opened eyes are looking at you. I want you to be happy. I am ready for us to be grownups together. Isn't that what you want?
===
"Who have you slept with" is a fairer question. Even better, "With whom did this possibly one-off incident...?"
===
I think that people like you, people with real talent, you don't value it because
it comes naturally to you. And we never value things that we... that come easily. But I value that album more than maybe anything I've ever heard. Not because it's perfect, but because of what it means to me. Ultimately, I don't give a shit what it means to you. Art isn't for the artist no more than water is for the bloody plumber.
