I didn't know until i went to the item, but there was a film made out of this crisply written novel, what i was thinking, was, this one should be compared to the Jack Reacher novels. Lo, and behold, a film was made out of this one, starring the same actor who starred in the Jack Reacher film or film which was--or were--made: Tom Scientology Terrific. This book is easily read, except for the quite explicit sadism....say, in current events, not so long ago, there was a Navy Seal name Gallagher, who was on trial for his murder and other maltreatment of a prisoner of war over in the Far East: He was able to get off, scot-free, with the help of both Trump, and a confession to the murder, by a fellow serviceman. After that result was achieved, the information appears to have dropped off the side of the world. Which leads me to question, if the authorities have a confession, are not they obligated to pursue the case against the new perp? Or has the military actually become totally political? If so, then that is a shame. If you are killed, you're still dead, dead, dead, irregardless if the first suspect was actually innocent. And you have a new suspect, who has confessed. Gallagher's wife taking the forefront in his defense was obviously viewed as 'sexy,' to the news organizations (keeping firmly in mind that that 'sexy' is nearly totally different from the commonly accepted definition of the word).

The American Assassin was an awesome read commencing with Mitch Rapp’s upbringing to assist readers comprehend his full potential. As a 22+ year old adolescent, his character had been portrayed ideally in terms of his reflexes, retributions, speed and response to opposition. Exterminating Hamdi Sharif had been done professionally to corroborate his maturity in decision making. Rapp’s encounter with Stan Hurley helps reminisce the facts of life with Stan being a typical boss - conventional and pig headed in today’s world, but deludes prestige or responsibility during the later stages of the novel.
The appearances of characters like Assef, Abu Radih and Mikhael Ivanov distresses readers with their horrendous treatment. The author's depiction of Irene Kennedy continues to impress. How she and Hurley learn to tolerate each other remains nebulous.

Sad he left us at very early age. He was a good author. Had put lots of thinking in creating stories. I have read most of his books. I have just finished reading this book. noticed grammatical and spelling errors also poor editing. I got confused when I read that Hurley joined the conversation with Rapp and Ridley when Hurley was being held hostage by Sayyed? (See page 424 & 425)

Good read if one can get by the numerous grammatical errors, I never realized he succumbed to prostrate cancer last year until after I'd read the book. This was the first I've read by the author and found it middle of the road for the genre.

American Assassin failed to deliver any crunch time drama. Vince Flynn does not know how to deliver coordinated characters. Usually his bad guys are more believable than his good guys. This book is like puffed popcorn, looking big but gone in a New York second without must aftertaste. Maybe Vince Flynn will learn to consistently write stuff I really want to read. A big maybe.

Kill Shot was the first Mitch Rapp book I read. It certainly is much, much better than American Assassin. But I do not need another rehash of someone whose only aim in life is to kill someone he does not like even if the bad guy is an enemy to America. Keep trying Flynn. Your reputation is high and you should deliver your very, very best to the reader.
