A gripping and emotional legal drama based on a true story that moved France for three decades. Starring Daniel Auteuil (Jean De Florette) and Sebastian Koch (Homeland, The Life of Others). In 1982, André Bamberski (Daniel Auteuil) learns about the death of his 14-year-old daughter, Kalinka, while she was on vacation with her mother and stepfather (Sebastian Koch) in Germany. Convinced that Kalinka's death was not an accident, Bamberski begins to investigate. A botched autopsy report raises his suspicions and leads him to accuse Kalinka's stepfather, Dr Dieter Krombach, as the murderer. Unable to indict Krombach in Germany, Bamberski attempts to take the trial to France, where he will dedicate his life to Kalinka's justice and the imprisonment of Krombach. Based on the true Kalinka Bamberski case, IN HER NAME follows the three-decade battle faced by a father to bring his daughter's murderer to justice. Faced with challenges from the French and German legal systems, Bamberski's story is one of perseverance and obsessive determination.

A compelling subject! Yet, the film felt dated and low-budget!

a good movie based on the true story of a father that fought for 30 years through the legal system to get justice for his daughter

I highly recommend this movie

The film is based upon a true story of injustice. I felt that a great director could have improved the viewer's emotional response. Too often I had the feeling that I was just watching a film. The film picked up a little in the second half. I would give it 3.75 stars, as it is better than 3.5. When you watch a good film, you are supposed to forget that it is only a film that you are observing.

AKA Kalinka or "Au nom de ma fille (On behalf of my daughter)" which is inspired by a true story when fourteen years old Kalinka Bamberski was found dead in her mother's new house in Germany. Her father spent 30 years obsessed with bringing to justice the man who he thought raped and killed his teen-age daughter. Gets my blood boiling watching how slow justice worked which enabled the killer continued his heinous acts until... If you like the 2015 film “24 days (24 jours)”, another French true crime drama, this should be good as well.

Wow. Just wow. A gripping, very well made film based on real events. It covers many years but never drags, nor does it get bogged down in unnecessary details or melodrama. Daniel Auteuil is as good as ever. It's best to watch this knowing as little as possible about the case so that each fact reveal and each action by the protagonist remain a surprise.

I kept my promise never to give up. This battle, I fought it for you. And despite the difficulties, the years of sacrifice, I have no regrets. Today, you'd be forty-four. I miss you.
I'd stake my life on it.
I was behind his kidnapping. I take full responsibility for it and I thank the kidnappers for having done the job of the French legal system.
My place is here with you and the children. We change nothing. I'll just stop seeing him.
He's a skirt chaser. All those he desired, he had. Consenting and in love.
