Tried to stick with this series to see if the author gets his legs under him but the material is just too weak to stick with any further I’m afraid.
Sam enters every confrontation appropriately armed – without exception he is immediately disarmed in some way which is followed by a long gratuitous fight scene, bonus points if parkour is awkwardly involved (it usually is) interspersed with plenty of internal dialog involving ruminations on the fact he’s only doing this to protect is innocent child. You can just wander around your house, fall to your knees and bellow to the heavens “I must slaughter innocents to protect my precious BAY-BEEE!!!” and hit about the same level of literary creativity. Buckle up to be repeatedly pummeled about the head and neck by many ham-handed dialogs reminding you of the motivating force for our protagonist – handy for the slower readers afflicted with severe memory issues.
Overall some pretty amateurish, repetitive writing that does not seem to be improving over the course of the series replete with terrible one dimensional ultra-evil characters with absolutely no depth to them who have a tendency to purr ridiculously cruel dialog just in case you’ve forgotten who to hate in the story line. Heaven forbid they have a workable back-story. C+ material at best, there’s considerably better options in the genre available out there.

The last minute: a thriller
by Jeff Abbott

In Adrenaline, ex-CIA agent Sam Capra's pregnant wife disappeared; in The Last Minute, Capra steps up his efforts to find the infant son he's never met. Everything leads to a dead end, until he's offered a moral quagmire of a chance: kill someone for the people who have his son, and Capra might get baby Daniel back. As action-packed as it gets, this pulse-pounding series should probably be read in order; if you like Adrenaline and The Last Minute, check out Downfall and Inside Man next." As with all his books, this one is a winner. I wasn't totally taken with the ending - the drawn-out conversation with Braun explaining why events occurred as they did. It obviously lays the groundwork for a sequal.

Loved Adrenaline. Can't wait to read The Last Minute. There is lots of action to keep you interested. Never got bored at all. Will recommend it to friends. Waiting for the final book Downfall in this series, coming out July 2013.
