I picked this one up hoping to develop a deeper appreciation for the apparent randomness inherent in some equations governing quantum mechanics. I left with a deeper understanding of what 'beauty' in pure number theory really is. This book is not for the hard core math geek, but offers an inroad to deeper number theory for those interested in related fields.

i came at this hoping to understand numbers in the periodic table and instead, i found myself deep into number theory. i love this book!

as well, i 'blame' du sautoy for my interest in symmetry (see other review), as those patterns in nature seem to be inescapable.
