Come join local Poet and Professor, Amanda Hayden, to learn about her writing process, inspiration, and the publishing journey she's experienced so far with three of her poetry books being accepted for publication. She has been writing her whole life, but just started diving into the publishing side a couple of years ago and would love to share what she's learned for anyone who is interested in writing and publishing their own work. Hayden is the current Poet Laureate for Sinclair College and award-winning Professor of Humanities, Philosophy, and World Religions. Her debut collection, American Saunter, inspired by traveling across the U.S., is forthcoming by FlowerSong Press in Fall 2024. Old World Wings, her second collection inspired by European travels, is forthcoming by Wild Ink Publishing in Fall 2025. She has had over 40+ poems published in journals and anthologies, including Slipstream, Tangled Locks Journal, River Heron Review, Milk and Cake, Rowayat, Syncopation Literary Journal, Northern Appalachian Review, Ohio Bards, and many others. She just received First Place for the River Heron Editor's Prize for Poetry for her poem, The Faery Bridges. She lives on a windy little farm with her family, many furry rescue babies, including a blind, three-legged “angel in a dog suit” Vinny Valentine.
